We hear the PDP will soon launch another round of campaign tour

by James Sambo

After postponing the general elections, the Peoples Democratic Party Campaign Council has reportedly made plans to commence another round of state-wide campaigns.

According to Punch newspaper, the decision to embark on the new round of campaigns was taken during a meeting the council members had with President Goodluck Jonathan at the new Banquet Hall of the Presidential Villa, Abuja on Monday, February 16.

Besides President Jonathan, those who were said to have been present at the meeting included; Vice President Namadi Sambo; the National Chairman of the party, Alhaji Adamu Mu’azu; the National Deputy Chairman, Uche Secondus; the Deputy President of the Senate, Ike Ekweremadu; and the Deputy Director-General of the Campaign Council, Taminu Turaki (SAN).

A council member who attended the meeting disclosed that the meeting concluded that the Peoples Democratic Party should launch another round of state campaigns because of the postponement.

The council member added that about 10 states would be visited during this round, as opposed to the last round, that saw Jonathan and the party visit about 35 states,

He added that apart from rallies that would be held, the new campaigns would be more of ‘penetration and consultations.’

The official said: “We have decided that we should go on another round of state campaigns because of the poll shift. Although rallies will be held, this new round of campaigns will be more of penetration and consultations. This one may include only about 10 states.”
