“I don’t have to be on TV to impact youth” – Agatha Amata

Agatha Amata

It was her final outing as host of her 20-year-old live talk show, Inside Out but Agatha Amata kept her calm and steered her guests and audience to a safe landing.

The Harbour Point hall was packed as the 20th anniversary special was filmed and on the panel were 6 personalities who clearly understood the essence of the show and owed it to the audience and Agatha to give their best.

As she wrapped up the all too important conversation on the future of Nigeria beyond oil, Agatha Amata thanked God for the journey thus far. She also attributed her success to passion. “Difficult times will come and if you’re not passionate about what you do, you’ll get discouraged”, she said.

When we caught up with her, Agatha Amata who also owns Rave TV, said she had always known she was not cut out for the regular 9-5 lifestyle so she let her deep interest in talking take center stage. She said, “I like to talk and maybe if I wasn’t doing this, I’d be a lawyer”.

On her plans for life after Inside Out, Agatha gave a glimpse into the Inside Out with Agatha Foundation. “I don’t have to be on TV to impact youths”. This equally feeds into her choice of a replacement for host of the show. She insists that it had to be a man or woman who places people before all else: “I want someone who loves people, knows who they are, I want a man or woman who can be the best version of himself. I don’t want the person to be like me.”

Agatha said the one major lesson she was taking away from her 20-year stint on Inside Out is “be yourself”.
