Olisa Metuh, spokesperson for the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has opened up about his benefits from the administration of former President, Goodluck Jonathan.
Speaking at a press conference in his office on Tuesday, December 15, Metuh stated that he did not benefit from any government contract during the administration of Jonathan.
He revealed that clarifying on the issue became necessary “taking into consideration the times we find ourselves, especially as they relate to me”.
Metuh also stated that he has been “hounded, harassed, intimidated and threatened severally” in the last seven months as the spokesperson of the opposition to the ruling party.
He however, kept the public in the dark about this developments to avoid personal and family pressure.
“However, on account of recent information available to me, I now have cause to believe that the Federal Government is desperate and may have finalized plans to silence me.
“As someone who has been a private person, having not taken any public office, the choice of where, how and when to invest and conduct my personal business remains my prerogative.
“In this regard, I note that I never had any contract dealings with the immediate past Federal Government or any of its security apparatus,” he said.
“It is important to note that the former president was fully satisfied with the way and manner I handled the assignment” Metuh said.
He urged the Buhari led government “not use the apparatus of state power to settle personal scores”.
