Former governor of Imo State, Achike Udenwa, was on Tuesday, arrested by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on allegations of corruption.
According to Sahara Reporters, the former Imo state governor was arrested and questioned for several hours by the EFCC at the headquarters of the anti-graft agency in Abuja.
Udenwa is said to have received N350 million which was diverted by the Goodluck Jonathan campaign organization in 2015.
He allegedly admitted to the EFCC that he received the money from embattled former finance minister, Esther Nenadi Usman, who served as the Director of Finance for the Goodluck Jonathan campaign organization.
Udenwa, who served as the governor of Imo state from 1999 to 2007 on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), was later released by the anti-graft agency after signing an agreement to pay back the N350 million to the federal government in two weeks.
