Following Boko Haram’s audacious attack on the convoy of Emirs who were on their way to attend the funeral of the Emir of Gombe, the Emir of Askira, HRH Mai Abdullahi Ibn Muhammadu has made his thoughts known to the public.

The Emir escaped by the skin of his teeth but the Emir of Gwoza was not as lucky as he was said to have been shot in the head during the Boko Haram attack.

While reacting to a goodwill message from the Deputy Chairman of the ongoing National Conference, Prof. Bolaji Akinyemi, Muhammadu responded via text message which reads: “My deputy Chairman, I’m most grateful, it was a narrow escape.”

Akinyemi had sent a message to the Emir, who is also a member of the Confab expressing his heartfelt relief on behalf of the Conference.

“Your Royal Majesty, on behalf of the National Conference, please accept our heartfelt relief at the failure of the attack on your convoy. We thank Allah for your safety,” he said.

Akinyemi who has been standing-in for the Justice Kutigi since the demise of the latter’s wife on Wednesday, expressed the joy of the delegates over the escape of the Emir and wholeheartedly condemned what he described as “cowardly and dastardly attack.”

The late Emir of Gwoza, Idrisa Tinta was killed in the attack and his body has been recovered according to reports from the Nigerian Army Headquarters.
