Why Senator Shehu Sani was suspended for ’11 months’ by APC

Senator Shehu Sani, representing Kaduna Central Senatorial Zone, has been suspended by the Tudun Wada ward of the All Progressives Congress in Kaduna state.

Sani, an outspoken member of the APC, was suspended for anti-party activities and other offences.

In a letter addressed to the senator on December 27, it was stated that the suspension was for a period of 11 months and that, henceforth, “the senator is disengaged from partaking in or attending party activities in Kaduna State.”

The letter was signed by the secretary of the ward, Ahmed Abdulhamid; the Public Relations Officer, Auwal Mai Anguwa; and ex-officio member, Aminu Alilan.

The ward chapter of the ruling party said the senator had chosen to remain confrontational with the state government and governor Nasir El-Rufai.

“Hardly a week passes by that his group will not be on air criticising and challenging the enduring legacies of Mallam Nasir el-Rufai, that his statement on national issues is not in conformity with that of the state government and government of Kaduna State.”
