A man who allegedly raped a 9-year old primary school student in Ibadan has been sent to prison over allegations that he perpetrated the crime.

Segun Majeed, 35, was remanded in prison on the orders of a state high court for the offence which he allegedly committed earlier this year at the Iwo Road area of Ibadan, the Oyo State capital.

Vanguard reports:

The prosecutor, Mrs Olumide Ojo, told the court that the defendant allegedly raped a nine-year-old girl on May 29, 2012, at the ArmyBarracksPrimary School, Iwo Road, Ibadan.

She told the court that she was yet to respond to the application filed by defence counsel, Mr. Olaniji Olabinjo.

Ojo said she had just been served, that the court should give her time to respond.

Justice Mashud Abas ordered that the defendant be taken back to prison and adjourned the case till tomorrow.
