There was a collision of two airplanes of FirstNation Airways at the Murtala Muhammed Airport Terminal 2 (MMA2) in Lagos on Friday afternoon.
The collision involved two Airbus 330 which had on board about 250 passengers.
A source who witnessed the incident revealed that one of the aircraft was taxiing from the runway to MMA2, to disengage passengers while the other aircraft was preparing to take off to Port-Harcourt Airport from the same terminal.
The source claimed that the pilot may have been misdirected by the marshals who directed the pilot, which led to the collision that partially damaged the bodies of the two aircraft.
The Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), immediately grounded both aircraft while passengers were asked to disembark by the airline.
The incident was confirmed by the General Manager, Public Affairs, of the NCAA, Fan Ndubuoke, who stated that no passenger was hurt and that the accident had been referred to the Accident Investigation Bureau (AIB) for further investigation.
