The Court of Appeal has fixed Tuesday November 1, 2016 as its hearing date for the application of Eyitayo Jegede, Ondo candidate of the Ahmed Makarfi faction of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), The Cable reports.
The Court was approached by Jegede to upturn the decision of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
INEC had on Thursday named Jimoh Ibrahim as the candidate of the PDP in the November 26 governorship election.
INEC’s decision followed an October 14 court order by Justice Okon Abang, of the Federal High Court, Abuja.
A three-man panel of the Appeal Court on Saturday led by Justice Jummai Sankey said it would hear Jegede’s application on Tuesday due to the urgency.
“In view of the contentious notice, the appellant objector and appellant applicant are hereby given 24 hours to file their processes,” Sankey ruled.
“Application of the appellant applicant will be heard on Tuesday.”
