About 2,000 members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Degema Local Government Area of Rivers State have defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The PDP members joined the ruling party in Tombia, Degema LGA, during an empowerment programme on Tuesday, Daily Post reports.

Welcoming the new members, a chieftain of the APC in Rivers, Dr. Sokonte Davies, who is a former member of the House of Representatives, representing Degema/Bonny constituency, described APC as the only party that was capable of meeting the aspirations of Nigerians.

While also speaking, the Chairman of APC in Degema LGA, Kesibo Gogo-Abite, noted that the defectors took the right decision of joining the party.
