The secretariat of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Obi LGA, Nasarawa has been burnt to the ground.
The incident took place in the wee hours of Sunday, February 22, when arsonists arrived the scene and chased away the security guard attached to the building after which they proceeded to pour petrol all over the building and torched it.
According to the spokesperson of the Nasarawa Police Command, Ismaila Numan, 18 suspects have already been arrested in connection with the arson.
Meanwhile, it is being speculated that the burning of the PDP building was carried out by some supporters of the opposition All Progressives Congress (APC).
The premise for the speculation stems from the altercation between supporters of both parties on Friday where gunshots were fired and casualties recorded.
Neither the APC nor the PDP is yet to comment on the development.
