Felabration is always the real deal and this year’s is pregnant with promise.

The annual celebration of the life of the legendary Afrobeat pioneer and music activist, Fela Kuti, began on Monday, October 12.

The uber-hyper crowd of the Afrika Shrine were met with a like-mind, Comedian, Omo Baba, who was the host for the night.

With the tangy smell of marijuana swirling through the humid air.

Disabled Fela lovers got dancing with the physical art of acrobatics.

Gifted singer, Praiz, who’s delved into the commercial terrain, was the headline act of the first night of Felabration, alongside budding singer, Simi, responsible for the minor hit- Jamb Question.

While we still can’t get past Praiz’s new party-starter persona, he had a decent outing on the night.

But Simi, during her last performance, missed her lines while singing Jamb Question.

She was quiet for about 30 seconds while the band kept on playing. Simi held on to the microphone while the half-minute seemed like eternity.

After the 30 seconds, she regained her courage and tried to cheer the crowd for another one minute, while the band played on… till the song ended.

The HKN gang was the disappointment of the night, as they were a no-show.
B-red and Sina Rambo were billed to perform but till 5am, when the last set of high fellows trailed away from the Shrine, Davido’s cousins failed to turn up.
