Pres. Jonathan meets Mark, Ihedioha at the Villa

by Akan Ido

President Goodluck Jonathan on Tuesday met the Senate President, David Mark and the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Emeka Ihedioha, at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

It is not clear what the subject of discussion was as all the participants refused to speak to the press on the topic of discussions during the closed-door meeting.

Observers, however, believe that the meeting may have something to do the with the planned extension of Emergency Rule in three states of the North-east where the war against insurgency is currently raging.

Emergency Rule was months ago enforced in Borno, Adamawa and Yobe following a spate of attacks by Boko Haram in many communities within these states. The attacks have left many dead and many more displaced from their homes.

The President has continued to express his commitment to tackle terrorism view a view to bringing it to an end.
