The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has declared that President Goodlucj Jonaathan will roundly defeat the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Gen. Muhammadu Buhari (retd.) in the northern part of the country in the upcoming elections.

In a statement signed by Olisa Metuh, the party’s National Publicity Secretary, the party gave reasons for their conviction saying Northerners will vote for Jonathan on the basis of his sterling performance and his unequaled commitment to the development of the region.

The party accused the APC candiadate, Muhammadu Buhari of not executing any project in the region when he was head of state and his failure to articulate an acceptable blueprint for development in the region.

The statement read, “Indeed, Nigerians in the north are eager to re-elect President Goodluck Jonathan come February 14, 2015. Voters in the region appreciate the direct positive impact of the numerous development projects executed by the Jonathan administration in all sectors of life.

“They appreciate the fact that recognising that agriculture is the  mainstay of the northern economy, President Jonathan ensured that out of the 2.7 million direct farm jobs achieved by his administration, over 2 million are in the North”.

Meanwhile, President Goodluck Jonathan was yesterday in Kaduna in continuation of his nationwide campaign.

He enjoined the people of the state to vote for him so as to continue the developmental programs which his administration has started.

The President described Vice President Namadi Sambo – an indigene of the state – as his “Siamese twin,” saying he had actually come to Kaduna not to campaign but to actually greet the people who had shown great love and support for the PDP.
