The long running battle between Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi and his successor as Rivers governor, Nyesom Wike is getting tiring. There’s only so much anyone can find funny when two old men decide to make a nasty feud into a national affair.
The latest in their verbal assaults on each other was reported this morning when Amaechi reportedly called Wike a thug at an inspection visit to a project in Kaduna. It’s complete proof of the need for both of them to either let it go or rent a boxing ring once and for all.
“Do you think such a man is well? You believe Nyesom Wike is well? First, he doesn’t know how to speak English, he is poorly dressed, he is a thug, and you bring me to focus with that kind of a man?”
It may have been a question from a reporter that prompted the reaction. Or maybe it was a clap back at Wike who had reportedly dissed him again during a radio interview on Monday. What is clear is that the Minister’s comments were not only ill-timed, they were also made at the most inappropriate event.
He was inspecting a project ahead of its commissioning in faraway Kaduna and could not help but haul insults at his political rival.
Rotimi Amaechi chose the occasion of an inspection visit to the Kaduna Inland Dry Port to verbally attack his successor. And that’s just really off.
