Vice President, Professor Osinbajo has been sort of the the star boy of the current administration. ANd we know this because no one from the opposition has come for him in any rude way so far. Not Reuben, not Fani, not even Fayose. That’s how you know that someone is doing a good job in Nigeria. Even if you can see how hard they are working on reviving the economy or how efficient and reliable they are, you still have to look out for dirty snide comments about them from the opposition. Because that can make all the difference.
Anyway, the Vice President has been in the clear so far and we thought we’d warn him that that is a good status quo to maintain following his recent comments about the “Aso Rock Cabal”. Don’t you think he should also stay far away from that as possible?
The cabal business has refused to let up since Aisha Buhari spilled her heart out to BBC Hausa last year. Many people have given their 2 cents, mentioned members of the cabal, accused the President of everything from weakness to incapacity. Some have denied the existence of any cabal and SGF Babachir has chosen a different approach altogether – owning up to membership of the cabal.
[Catch up: I am a proud member of the cabal – Babachir Lawal]
But never the Professor.
Until today. When he decided to crack a joke about it.
Reporters asked him at the Villa about it and this is the response he gave:
“Cabals are meant to be secret. I am still looking for those guys. Honestly, I don’t know where they are. I can’t tell you that I know where those fellows are.”
It’s the kind of thing that can pass for a joke and we are sure he had the best intentions when he said it but we’d rather he just steered clear of the whole cabal business.
