#RioOlympics: Colombia beats Nigeria 2 – 0

Nigeria’s U-23 team suffered their first defeat in the Olympics as they lost 2-0 to Colombia at the Arena dos Corinthians in Sao Paulo

Samson Siasia featured a weakened team in the final Group B game resting some key players.

Colombia started the game on fire, as they took the lead in the fourth minute through Teo Guiterrez.

Dorlan Parbon doubled Colombia’s lead from the penalty spot in the 62nd minute as the game ended 2-0.

The loss will have little or no effect to Nigeria who already top the Group after winning their first two games. The low point of the game was the injury suffered by Nigeria’s leading goal scorer Oghenekaro Etebo.

In the other Group B game, Japan defeated Sweden 1-0 through a Shinya Yajima strike.

Nigeria will now face the second-placed team in Group A comprising host nation Brazil, Denmark, Iraq and African rivals South Africa.
