The petitions against the ministerial nomination of former Rivers State Governor, Rotimi Amaechi, will not be brought up during his screening.
The Senate Committee on Ethics, Privileges and Public Petitions called off the consideration of the petition.
A group based in Port Harcourt, The Integrity Group, had sent a petition to the Senate through Senator George Thompson Sekibo and two other Senators, alleging that Amaechi mismanaged N70 billion Rivers State funds.
However, Amaechi appeared before the Senate committee on Monday, at the National Assembly, alongside his former Commissioner for Information, Mrs. Ibim Semenitari and two members of the House of Representatives.
Amaechi revealed to the committee that the subject matter of the petition is already pending before a court of competent jurisdiction.
After hearing from Amaechi, Chairman of the committee, Senator Samuel Anyanwu stated that in line with Section 7 of the Senate Standing Rules, it would amount to sub-judice to consider the petition.
