In August, 2016, six year old Alex, who lives in Scarsdale, New York watched with the world and saw the images of Omran Daqneesh, a five-year-old boy in Aleppo, Syria, sitting in an ambulance, in shock as he tried to wipe the blood from his hands.
Alex sent a letter to President Barack Obama, saying that he’d like the little boy to come stay with his family. He said in his letter that, “he wanted to share his bike, and teach him how to ride. He said his little sister would collect butterflies for him.”
At the United Nations summit on refugees, President Obama read that letter to the world.
In a video shared on the White House’s Twitter account, young Alex is seen visiting the President with his family in the Oval Office. .
