Barrow removes ‘Islamic’ from Gambia’s official name

Gambian President Adama Barrow has removed “Islamic” from the official name of The Gambia. Barrow in a news conference said the country will now be called The Republic of The Gambia. Former President Yahya Jammeh had renamed the country “Islamic Republic of The Gambia” in 2015.
