In a post for World Mom’s Blog, BBOG campaigner Aisha Yesufu said she was asked by her daughter why the economy is bad, and whether President Buhari is responsible.
Yesufu said Buhari was not responsible, and likened Nigeria’s situation to that of a family who did not save when times were good.
The response she got from one person in particular had us shouting ‘Thread!’, so check it out below.
Aisha Yesufu tweeted;
Read below my explanation to my daughter when she asked if it's PMB's fault

And then the schooling began:
I have read your article Madam and while I commend you for taking time out to teach your daughter these things,….
— Chi (@JajaPhD) July 17, 2016
…I must also point out that you could have done a much more better job with regards to the topic at hand.
— Chi (@JajaPhD) July 17, 2016
May I point your daughter to the father in another family, Obama, who took over the reins during a recession.
— Chi (@JajaPhD) July 17, 2016
Yu failed to teach your daughter that while it may be true that a lot of savings weren't made, there were savings nonetheless
— Chi (@JajaPhD) July 17, 2016
There were also investments in SMSEs to boost the economy. The father did a good job with the family farm for food security
— Chi (@JajaPhD) July 17, 2016
This economy is bad simply because the current father, Buhari, spent too long running the country as he ran his ranch.
— Chi (@JajaPhD) July 17, 2016
Following the Brexit vote and subsequent Tory leadership race, the £ suffered and investors were panicking.
— Chi (@JajaPhD) July 17, 2016
However, the British Govt put in work immediately to prevent further decline including slashing interest rates.
— Chi (@JajaPhD) July 17, 2016
Osborne also travelled to USA to quell the fears of investors and to reassure them of the resilience of the British economy
— Chi (@JajaPhD) July 17, 2016
Immediate results included the rebound of the £ and the FTSE 100 made more gains than it did before the Brexit vote.
— Chi (@JajaPhD) July 17, 2016
Not too long after assuming her role as PM, Ms May appointed key cabinet members. This has had further positive effects.
— Chi (@JajaPhD) July 17, 2016
Now, back to our family, what did our father do?? He appointed a photographer. He also appointed media aides.
— Chi (@JajaPhD) July 17, 2016
Then he started constructing a helipad in Daura. He also began his world tour, travelling with select APC Governors
— Chi (@JajaPhD) July 17, 2016
For over 6 months (or so), there were no cabinet members. No economic direction. Our economy was on autopilot
— Chi (@JajaPhD) July 17, 2016
During this time, the Govt kept flip flopping. There was so much confusion. Even our father didn't know of Emiefele's actions
— Chi (@JajaPhD) July 17, 2016
It'd be foolish of any investor to remain in such an environment and so, our economy suffered even more.
— Chi (@JajaPhD) July 17, 2016
You also forgot to tell your daughter that the new father, during campaigns, made a lot of promises he knew were impossible
— Chi (@JajaPhD) July 17, 2016
Everyone knew that our savings had gone down. It was obvious that there was systemic corruption. The problems were glaring.
— Chi (@JajaPhD) July 17, 2016
Notwithstanding, our new father looked us in the eyes and told us bare faced lies. He even got people to bully us for asking
— Chi (@JajaPhD) July 17, 2016
So, by blaming "no savings or investments during the boom", you are actually lying to her and sanctioning Buhari's failures
— Chi (@JajaPhD) July 17, 2016
Some key lessons for her:
1. Before you make promises, be sure that you can fulfil them.
2. Don't be wise in your own eyes.— Chi (@JajaPhD) July 17, 2016
2 (cont). It's ok not to know things. However, ask questions and be willing to learn.
3. Priorities. Important things first
— Chi (@JajaPhD) July 17, 2016
3 (cont). Buhari abandoned the economy for a wild goose chase of recovering loots. Very foolish decision.
— Chi (@JajaPhD) July 17, 2016
4. If you have a dream and have had time to prepare for it, you should be ready when the opportunity comes.
— Chi (@JajaPhD) July 17, 2016
4 (cont). Buhari had 12 years to prepare for this his administration. He failed to prepare and so, he's failing now.
— Chi (@JajaPhD) July 17, 2016
5. You don't have to lie in order to be accepted. Buhari lied to us that he was poor and austere. He's a bad example to kids
— Chi (@JajaPhD) July 17, 2016
@jajaphd guy is more than PhD. he’s a prof
@AishaYesufu & let’s not ever forget the legend @JajaPhD savage slayer extraordinaire!
@AishaYesufu I still celebrate this thread by my man @JajaPhD …boss!
