The governorship candidate of the Labour Party in Rivers State, Tonye Princewill, has said he will discontinue the monorail project started by the Rotimi Amaechi administration if elected as the state governor in February.

Princewill, who spoke with newsmen in Port Harcourt on Monday, explained that he might decide to attract foreign participation for the completion of the project.

The governorship candidate pledged to ensure that other ongoing projects of the current administration were completed should he emerge as the winner of the February governorship election in the state.

The All Progressives Congress Presidential Campaign Organization on Monday advised President Jonathan and the leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party, to take charge of their re-election campaign before their surrogates plunge Nigeria into anarchy.

This was contained in a statement signed by the Director of Media and Publicity of the campaign, Mallam Garba Shehu.

The campaign was reacting to a front page wrap-around cover advertisement on the Monday, 19th January, 2015, edition of some newspapers in which Nigerians were asked to choose between life and death, grouping General Buhari among former Nigerian leaders who were either killed or died of natural causes while in office.

All Progressives Congress, APC Campaign Organization has said that it would hold the ruling Peoples Democratic Party, PDP accountable  should any misfortune befall its presidential candidate, General Muhammadu Buhari.

The Campaign Organization also advised President Jonathan and the leadership of PDP to take charge of their campaign for re-election before their surrogates plunge Nigeria into anarchy.

Reacting to a front page wrap-around advert on Monday’s edition of some newspapers in which Nigerians were asked to choose between life and death, grouping General Buhari among former Nigerian leaders who were either killed or died of natural causes while in office, the APC campaign through a statement signed by Mallam Garba Shehu, Director of Media and Publicity of the Campaign described the development as the height of political desperation.

The Independent National Electoral Commission, will on Tuesday hold a crucial meeting with stakeholders on modalities for conduct of the 2015 general elections at camps for Internally Displaced Persons in the North-East.

The parley, which will be attended by representatives of the State Governments of Adamawa, Borno and Yobe, is expected to get the robust buy-in and support of the stakeholders for the modalities INEC had articulated to ensure that IDPs exercise their franchise in next month’s elections.

Other stakeholders expected at the meeting are members of the State Houses of Assembly from the three States; Speakers of the State Houses of Assembly from the three States; religious leaders, representatives of security agencies comprising the Army, Police, Department of State Services, Office of the National Security Adviser,Chief of Defence Staff and Civil Defence Corps, among others.

President Goodluck Jonathan on Monday said he had explicit confidence in the ability of the Chairman, Independent National Electoral Commission, Prof. Attahiru Jega, to be an unbiased umpire in the February general elections.

Jonathan spoke during the Peoples Democratic Party’s presidential rally held in Birnin Kebbi, Kebbi State.

He said the fact that Jega is an indigene of the state also showed the confidence he has in the state.

He said, “We appreciate the people of Kebbi State so much. We have confidence in you and that is why we are talking about elections.
