Every day on the Nigerian internet, there are people who keep our eyes glued to our phone screens as we read their rants, opinions, perspectives on political and social matters, etc. Sometimes, they are just downright ridiculous. We make it our job to take down the names of these noisemakers.
Here’s our list from today:
1 Nike Adeyemi
It’s been quite explosive on TwitterNG today as the Nigerian Army’s presence in the South East has led to unprecedented katakata. So before we settle into the business of the day, we thought it refreshing to begin with this tweet as a reminder of world peace; a reminder that somewhere in this country, people don’t care what state you come from; they just need basic care, which these Nigerians banded together to provide.

Una do well.
2. OnyeNkuzi
South East has been boiling after the military showed up to continue the second part of their Python Dance. According to reports, they invaded Nnamdi Kanu’s house, the NUJ headquarters in Umuahia and went on to abuse alleged IPOB members by flogging them and forcing them to lie down in a muddy stream.
As if in retaliation of the Army’s activities, some Igbos were videotaped looking for Hausas to kill.
WATCH:
If you understand Igbo, then you will know this IPOB issue has reached a point where something decisive has to be done asap pic.twitter.com/4uUP1fCFGc
— HENRY Okelue (@4eyedmonk) September 13, 2017
Not one to sweep controversial topics under the carpet, Chukwudebelu has come forward to condemn their actions.
I saw the video of people searching a bus for "Hausas" somewhere in the South East and I condemn it in the strongest possible terms.
— Onye Nkuzi (@cchukudebelu) September 14, 2017
Nnamdi Kanu is a dangerous fellow leading a mass of people (many of who are not well educated) astray.
— Onye Nkuzi (@cchukudebelu) September 14, 2017
This does not mean that I do not have issues with Government's heavy handed tactics like #OperationPythonDance. They are counterproductive.
— Onye Nkuzi (@cchukudebelu) September 14, 2017
At this point, I need to re-evaluate my presence on political twitter. Political season is almost upon us, & animosity will grow.
— Onye Nkuzi (@cchukudebelu) September 14, 2017
In reaction, Nigerians try to understand the root of our divisiveness.
You see we set this tribe thing up ourselves. For example. Why do you need to fill in "state of origin" in a form as a 'Nigerian "
— Kotal_Kahn (@Kotal_kahnnn) September 14, 2017
Its not done in most other countries. An American is an American not a New York American, or a Texas American. It starts from the basics
— Kotal_Kahn (@Kotal_kahnnn) September 14, 2017
America is far away! Ghana has regions, nobody asks for your region. You are asked for WHERE YOU WERE BORN! We continue to divide ourselves.
— Tunde (@ogbenibabalola) September 14, 2017
So removing the state of origin is a first step to uniting the country
— Kotal_Kahn (@Kotal_kahnnn) September 14, 2017
Perhaps.
3. Atiku
The President you do not want has made certain to speak on the military aggression going on in the East. It’s standard fare: appreciating stakeholders, calling for restraint and finishing with a strong demand. As diplomatic speeches go, though, it’s better than anything we’ve seen or heard from Buhari.
See below:
I join my party, the APC to call for restraint from all sides in the aggression happening in Abia State.
— Atiku Abubakar (@atiku) September 14, 2017
We hear each other better if we speak peacefully. Everyone, please stop escalating the situation. Let us dialogue and listen to each other.
— Atiku Abubakar (@atiku) September 14, 2017
I appreciate our governors both North & South, for their efforts to maintain calm. Meeting with stakeholders is important & should continue
— Atiku Abubakar (@atiku) September 14, 2017
The history of Nigeria shows that anytime people are targeted and hurt based on their ethnicity, we all suffer. Let this end now!
— Atiku Abubakar (@atiku) September 14, 2017
Reactions:
There is no aggression in the SE sir, guess you are been wrongly briefed or not paying attention sir. Our military are in absolute control
— MY (@DipoSpeak) September 14, 2017
Abia was very peaceful until the unnecessary python dance began, thus provoking some ignoramus into unnecessary reaction too.
— louis okeleke (@debiglouis) September 14, 2017
Who is being called to restraint on the side of the army? Who controls the army? Nigeria, we truly don't need this ruthless killings
— Philip Asuquotes (@PhilAsuquOtes) September 14, 2017
Nnamdi Kanu must be arrested and prosecuted for inciting violence and bloodshed ENOUGH IS ENOUGH
— kagarko (@sagirharuna1) September 14, 2017
Mr President! We love you!
— Ademola Adetokunbo (@UncleRajj) September 14, 2017
4. Ayobami
This Python Dance orchestra in the South East has taken Nigerians on Political Twitter down memory lane. If anything, it has convinced a section of the country that from the date of his election, Buhari was not the President Nigeria needed.
See why below:
This Abia issue will escalate because of Buhari's lack of emotional intelligence.
— Ayobami (@dondekojo) September 14, 2017
It's a shame on everyone that conspired to bring one of the men of 66' back. Their entire generation know nothing more than "conquer"
— Ayobami (@dondekojo) September 14, 2017
Stanley disagrees:
Even now a coup will be justified if it is done with an election to be held wthing 90 days. @MBuhari @NGRPresident is a failed dictator
— Stanley Okafor (@noblestan33) September 14, 2017
5. Andy
Blame has been flung in all directions over this IPOB vs Python Dance matter. A good number of persons have said that military force in the East is justified, never mind that all was peaceful until the Army showed up guns blazing, MRAP tankers primed for action.
Andy whittles down the argument pushed forth by some, justifying the army’s actions.
Take a look:
Collective Guilt & Collective Punishment in society is barbaric. Did the entire Abia State skip bail or attack motorists?
— orwelliANDYstopia (@andyRoidO) September 14, 2017
The Army has no business in this IPOB matter in general. It definitely has no business doing "show of force" operations in peaceful towns.
— orwelliANDYstopia (@andyRoidO) September 14, 2017
It triggered some back and forth:
You failed to answer my question. What warranted the deployment of troops to Abia State for Operation Python Dance 2?
— Ms Boateng (@JoyceOdukoya) September 14, 2017
*crickets*
[In case you missed it]: “The Thread: Buhari just made the biggest tactical blunder of the year”
5. Cheta Nwanze
This is a case of history speaking for itself:
"I could order the military into the creeks to get militants, but innocent people will die." -Umaru Yar'Adua.
That was a leader.

7. Sam Hart
It ends with good news, thankfully. The Army is leaving Abia state, Sam Hart reports:
Press Conference by Gov Okezie Ikpeazu announcing agreement with the Army to withdraw troops from Umuahia and Aba from tomorrow 15/09/2017 pic.twitter.com/jiRUEO1nUF
— Sam Hart (@hartng) September 14, 2017
The military men that will be remaining will be those who have been there hitherto to maintain the peace.
— Sam Hart (@hartng) September 14, 2017
Contingents of Mobile Policemen will be drafted all round the State to maintain the peace and ensure that hoodlums do not disturb the peace.
— Sam Hart (@hartng) September 14, 2017
The Governor will meet with President Muhammadu Buhari to discuss lasting solutions to the IPOB threat & activities in Abia State.
— Sam Hart (@hartng) September 14, 2017
The military will still proceed with their Operation Python Dance II but it will not entail aggressive engagements with civilian population.
— Sam Hart (@hartng) September 14, 2017
I will share full statement shortly.
— Sam Hart (@hartng) September 14, 2017
Never underestimate the power of dialogue and sustained pressure in a conflict. Thank God for softening hard hearts. We shall do our part.
— Sam Hart (@hartng) September 14, 2017
And no, this is not victory for IPOB. Their matter will be sorted. In a way that will not affect safety of innocent bystanders.
— Sam Hart (@hartng) September 14, 2017
It is not easy to convince Generals who have deployed troops to withdraw them when objective has not been met. We thank Army High Command.
— Sam Hart (@hartng) September 14, 2017
Reactions:
I AM COUNTING ON THIS. FOR EVERY SINGLE LIFE LOST DUE 2 THIS MADNESS – BOTH IGBOS AND NON IGBOS KANU AND IPOB MUST BE BROUGHT TO JUSTICE.
— ijeoma ike (@jaydaimonds) September 14, 2017
Dede this is good news. Daalu nu!!!
— Ugonnia (@AustinYugo) September 14, 2017
Weldone… Let peace reign ???
— Abdul ??? (@Abdul_A_Bello) September 14, 2017
Personally.. I keep asking myself. Why is it difficult for Nigerians to coexist? My best closest friends are from other religion and tribe
— Abdul ??? (@Abdul_A_Bello) September 14, 2017
That goes to show you that our problem is the elite class, I have Yoruba and hausa friends and they are not bad people
— Ejima. (@MelaMadeIt) September 14, 2017
Very true.. People work hand in hand in offices and organizations without any rancor.
— Abdul ??? (@Abdul_A_Bello) September 14, 2017
I've been waiting for a positive news like this.. Thank you Jesus…
— JUDE ADEDEJI SKONES™ (@perfectskones) September 14, 2017
Man, salute to the Governor and you all right now. I'm hearing the stories, it's tough out there. God speed.
— Wolf (@eldivyn) September 14, 2017
8. Osinachi
Looks like Osinachi’s prayers were answered. He certainly has a point:
I pray we don't see war in Nig. We are all going to see how it start but no one will see how it will end.. Even Nnamdi Kanu will runaway.
— OSINACHI ?? (@BITO_WALE) September 14, 2017
9. Babasola
Can we take a moment to remember:
Buhari the ogbuagu (lion killer) 1 of Aba. By the way Aba in Abia state. pic.twitter.com/17rGkDARXn
— Babasola Kuti (@SKSolaKuti) September 14, 2017
Nigerians, sha.
10. Demola Olarewaju
It doesn’t end there. Demola narrates the consequences of choosing Buhari a second time.
Nigeria may Never be the Same Again after this Govt.
Whatever Ethnic Bond Existed Before Now is being Tested and in Many Ways, Shattered.
— Demola Olarewaju (@DemolaRewaju) September 14, 2017
The alliance was faulty to begin with and I will find the tweet where I said so to someone here – I saw clearly it wasn't inclusive enough.
— Demola Olarewaju (@DemolaRewaju) September 14, 2017
Our Generation must not Succumb to this Madness.
We must forge Cross-Ethnic Alliances for the Future and Regain our Collective Humanity.
— Demola Olarewaju (@DemolaRewaju) September 14, 2017
Not sure I've ever mentioned Kanu here before because he's a non-issue and I didn't vote him.
I didn't vote Buhari too,
But he's President.— Demola Olarewaju (@DemolaRewaju) September 14, 2017
How this guy got promoted from Director to Supreme Leader is an example of this Govt's foolishness – and many have made the point.
— Demola Olarewaju (@DemolaRewaju) September 14, 2017
A True Leader would Compromise to Conquer: "don't kill my people, it is me you want and I surrender myself but don't kill any person."
— Demola Olarewaju (@DemolaRewaju) September 14, 2017
A True Leader would Compromise to Conquer: "How soon can I visit my people in the South-East as I visited them during our campaigns? "
— Demola Olarewaju (@DemolaRewaju) September 14, 2017
These are no Leaders and Nigeria is Unfortunate to have both of them at this Period.
Even if we Survive it, we are all Victims already.
— Demola Olarewaju (@DemolaRewaju) September 14, 2017
Both unfit in every way for the Position they aspire to or occupy by historical error, regardless of what their unthinking followers say.
— Demola Olarewaju (@DemolaRewaju) September 14, 2017

Not sure I agree with this premise many leaders of movements don't just turn themselves in ….We forget he has done time https://t.co/EAMlwZwy4o
— Keepitsimple (@_KeepIt_Simple) September 14, 2017
It's the symbolism to those who follow him if he cares as a leader should, but he's not.
I don't want to engage on this though so, seen. https://t.co/3c4NG96wwj

Nigeria's empathy is dependent on when it affects them directly. Everything is based on ethnic/regional sentiments, no national cohesion. https://t.co/wI7hU2Vj6s
— Peter. (@PetersPeros) September 14, 2017
Demola God bless you. I have never been this ethnically conscious. This govt. Have failed badly in uniting the nation.

My exact sentiments. Tactless & reactive Bubu blew him out of proportion and made him a Hero.
— Herr Daimler (@MeccaUS) September 14, 2017
I said the same thing: Gej might be the last president of a united Nigeria, pmb the first of a divided one. Sad to be right
— Nnennaya Okposuogu (@neneOkposuogu) September 14, 2017
I think Nigeria needed a Buhari to expose its sinking foundation. I dare say we need another 4years of Buhari. Na then our eye go clear! https://t.co/2SHxEvZtKL
— Zakzaky/Dasuki (@dgdfathrYesBoss) September 14, 2017

15 million people can decide to put this to an electoral test though. https://t.co/25dJ8t16ez
