The twitter handle of the Presidency’s Office of Digital Engagement, @DigiCommsNG, on Wednesday, bit more than they can chew and the response they got wasn’t pretty -at all.
Known for deploying bants and sarcasm that are often tasteless and too sensitive for a nation with frayed edges, the Presidential handle replied a tweet with its usual smugness and the response they got wasn’t funny.
It all began with this:
Chill with the smugness and sarcasm. No need to piss people off even more than your Oga currently is. https://t.co/jYm8vCZ91r

The @DigiCommsNG handle suddenly got really smug. Is it just me or has there been a change of tone?
— Yung S'Challa (@saratu) August 10, 2016
And the flood gate opened
@DigiCommsNG If banter is scratching you to do, as the social media volunteers to answer a tweet for you with sarcasm. Don’t do it yourself.
— S. (@saratu) August 10, 2016
@DigiCommsNG If you’re representing the presidency, you want to go very light on the banter. No need fighting with anybody, stick to facts.
— S. (@saratu) August 10, 2016
@DigiCommsNG @saratu I don’t know what the hell you think you are doing but it’s not bants. Your tweets are tone deaf and insensitive.
— buky (@buky) August 10, 2016
@buky @DigiCommsNG @saratu or at least they can refine the sarcasm so it’s at least witty?
— Somachi ChrisAsoluka (@SomaKudi) August 10, 2016
@SomaKudi Can you do that when your Oga is unpopular and you’re always playing defence? They should discard the sarcasm @buky @DigiCommsNG

Ever since the handle has known no rest…
@digicommsng Shameless liars. You lie through your teeth with reckless abandone. Hell awaits you. Telling lies is a sin before God.

That @DigiCommsNG handle thought we had slept yesterday and tried lying all about the TL.
