The former governor of Bayelsa, Timipre Sylva, on Friday, February 6, went in for questioning at the Department of State Services (DSS).
While some reports say Sylva, a chieftain of the APC, was arrested by the operatives of DSS, others say he voluntarily appeared before the security agency upon invitation.
Dofie Ola, Sylva’s media aide told PM News that the former governor went to the DSS voluntarily. He said: “He is a gentleman. He was invited and he has honoured the invitation.”
Meanwhile, the spokesperson for the DSS, Marilyn Ogar, while speaking to Punch, denied being aware of the arrest, saying: “Why would he (Sylvia) be picked up? I am in the office, I don’t have such information with me.”
Countering Ogar’s comment was the National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress, Lai Mohammed, who confirmed ‘the arrest’, saying he would issue a statement on Sylva’s arrest imminently.
