The Miss Universe took place on Sunday naming Miss Colombia as the winner of the 2014 competition and many observers weren’t impressed.

Here are 5 major highlights of the event:

1. Paulina Vega, Miss Universe Colombia 2014 became the crowned Miss Universe. Vega navigated the swimsuit, gown, and ever-terrifying Q&A round with aplomb, particularly during the awkward few minutes of live pageant TV. It seemed like none of the top 5 contestants could even hear (or comprehend) the questions they were being asked.

2. She takes over from Miss Universe 2013, Venezuela’s Gabriela Islar which is another major tiara for the South American pageant contingent.

3. Of the four other finalists falling just short of the title, the order of placement played out as follows: 1st runner up: Nia Sanchez, Miss Universe USA, 2nd runner up: Diana Harkusha, Miss Universe Ukraine, 3rd runner up: Yasmin Verheijen, Miss Universe Netherlands, 4th runner up: Kaci Fennell, Miss Universe Jamaica.

5. There was a Twitter outrage following the competition over the winner , saying that Miss Jamaica Kaci Fennell is too beautiful to not have won. Although the audience had an entirely different reaction. Most didn’t even think she should have made top five.
