Over 250 illegal refineries were destroyed and 118 arrests were made in the last one year by the Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps, according to a statement released by the corps.
In the statement signed by the Corps spokesperson, on Friday, the Commandant General of the NSCDC, Abdullahi Gana, said over 40 suspects had also been convicted since he assumed duty in July 2015.
Abdullahi said the Corps has been partnering with NNPC to ensure adequate distribution of petroleum products to all filling stations across the country.
He also said the partnership has helped checkmate the activities of unscrupulous marketers.
He said the hard work of the its Anti-Vandal Squad ensured that such a feat was achieved.
Abdullahi further noted that the establishment of the Command and Control Centre had assisted the Corps in monitoring all the pipelines in Niger Delta.
