APC governors angry with Buhari over ambassadorial nominees

APC governors on Monday expressed their grievance with President Muhammadu Buhari on the composition of the ambassadorial nominees, The Punch reports.

According to Governor of Plateau, Mr. Simon Lalong, who spoke to State House correspondents at the end of the closed-door meeting, they held with Buhari, the issue of the ambassadorial nominees was one of the things discussed.

Lalong said, “Part of the issue we also raised was on some of the appointments that were made. So all the states that had complaints are going to put it in writing and the President promised he is going to look into it,” he said.

Lalong said the rejection of the ambassadorial nomination by Pauline Tallen was not solely due to her husband’s health.

The governor said, “The rejection is not only about her (Tallen’s) husband. I think it is the dimension of Plateau politics because I had already made complaints to Mr. President that appointments should not be concentrated in one zone.

“All these appointments came again from that particular zone.

“The complaints that are coming from our state is not about her own personal interest, it is the fact that two ambassadorial appointments are coming from the same zone that we had complained about. That is my zone.

“We had said the next appointment should go to the other zones, the central and the northern zones. So, when that appointment came, the kind of uproar that followed that appointment also necessitated an intervention.”
