Legendary comedian, Bill Cosby has been charged with drugging and sexually assaulting a woman at his home 12 years ago.
Since the flurry of sexual allegations against him, this is the first criminal charges brought against the American comic great.
Prosecutors accused Cosby of giving former Temple University employee, Andrea Constand with pills and wine, after which he penetrated her with his fingers without her consent.
Constand was said to have been unable to resist his moves, as she was drifting in and out of consciousness.
According to Montgomery County District Attorney-elect Kevin Steele , the comedian’s victim was “frozen, paralyzed, unable to move”.
Although Cosby admitted under oath a decade ago that he had sexual contact with Constand, he maintained that it was consensual.
The world renowned star of the ‘Bill Cosby’ show, was handed a charge of aggravated indecent assault, punishable by five to 10 years behind bars and a $25,000 fine.
Meanwhile, ABC News reports that Bill Cosby’s bail has been set at $1 million, and his next hearing is set for January 14,
