The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has invited men of the Department of State Services who worked for Dame Patience Jonathan, wife of former President, Goodluck Jonathan over the frozen $15m in four Skye Bank accounts.

It was gathered that the invitation letter was sent to the DSS on Friday to allow the officials appear for questioning after it was discovered that they might have deposited money into the accounts for the ex-president’s wife on several occasions.

A source in the EFCC confirmed to Punch that the commission has evidence that the DSS officials at one time or the other helped deposit money into the bank accounts.

The source said, “The $15m, which we have frozen in the four company accounts was not paid into the accounts at once. The money was paid into the accounts over a two-year period.

“However, we have evidence that it was DSS officials attached to Jonathan’s wife that deposited the money. We have gathered bank documents and we have invited them for interrogation.”

Patience Jonathan had laid claim to a $15m which was discovered in four Skye Bank accounts when the EFCC was investigating a former Special Adviser to Jonathan on Domestic Affairs, Waripamowei Dudafa.

Dudafa had named his domestic workers as directors of the companies.

The four companies are: Pluto Property and Investment Company Limited; Seagate Property Development and Investment Company Limited; Trans Ocean Property and Investment Company Limited; and Globus Integrated Service Limited.

The companies had also pleaded guilty to money laundering charges against them at a Federal High Court in Lagos.

On the other hand, Dudafa and two other Skye Bank officials who opened the accounts pleaded not guilty to the charges against them.

However, Mrs. Jonathan has accused the EFCC of renting mercenaries to testify against her.

She has also sued Skye Bank for $200m as well as the anti-graft agency.

Patience also claimed the frozen money was for her medical bills.
