#Euro2016: England fall to dogged Iceland

Oh how the might have fallen…

On Monday night, England were left with their hands on their head trying to make meaning of what had just happened as Iceland eliminated them from the Euros with a 2-1 defeat in the Round of 16 clash.

Goals from Ragnar Sigurdsson and Kolbeinn Sigthorsson sealed one of the most famous upsets in the history of the competition as the Three Lions lost 2-1 to Iceland.

Roy Hodgson’s men appeared to be heading for an easy win when Wayne Rooney scored a 4th minute penalty.

However Sigurdsson hit back immediately as he converted a long throw and Sigthorsson shocked the Three Lions when he grabbed an 18th minute lead England couldn’t reply.

Iceland will go on to face the host nation, France.
