Nigerian troops recover more towns from Boko Haram

The Defence Headquarters says Nigerian troops were controlling operations in Kukawa, Geri, Gujba in Yobe to wipe out Boko Haram terrorists from their hideouts in the towns.

The development was communicated in a statement posted on the Defence Headquarters’ website on Monday, March 2, which said: “Troops are dominating operations in Kukawa, Geri, Gujba in Yobe, to rid the terrorists on Sunday.”

The statement further said that Nigerian troops invaded Kukawa Geri, Gujba in Yobe on Sunday night and were determined to flush out the insurgents from their remaining hideouts.

It was also revealed that most of the local governments and communities previously occupied by terrorists in the affected states have been liberated by the Nigerian troops.

The Nigerian troops had earlier flushed out the Boko Haram insurgentsfrom Bara, headquarters of Gulani Local Government Area of Yobe, and Gulak, the headquarters of Madagali Local Government Area of Adamawa.

Other locations also cleared during the operations include: Shikah, Fikayel, Tetebah, Buza, Kamla and Bumsa, while the recovered towns are; Monguno, Marte, Gamboru Ngala, Dikwa and Baga, among others.
