We rejected Magu as EFCC chairman – Senate spokesperson

The Nigerian Senate has dismissed reports in the media that it did not reject the nomination of Ibrahim Magu as chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

On Monday, Senate leader, Ali Ndume, while speaking with State House correspondents said Magu’s nomination was not rejected by the upper legislative chamber.

But in a statement on Tuesday,  via its Twitter account, spokesperson for the Senate, Aliyu Abdullahi Sabi, maintained that the red chamber rejected Magu.

“Different media platforms are reporting we did not reject @officialEFCC Magu, Senate’s official position remains he was rejected- Sen Sabi,” the Senate said.

Magu’s confirmation as EFCC chairman was rejected by the Senate following a “security report” by the Department of State Services (DSS).
