Several residents killed as Boko Haram raid Gwoza

by Panshak Ibrahim

Boko Haram insurgents have killed several residents in Gwoza, a town which is considered to be the Islamic sect’s headquarters.

The terrorist group had declared an Islamic caliphate in the town last year.

A witness as well as Senator Ali Ndume disclosed to AFP on Thursday, March 5, that he had received reports of the insurgent build-up in the town.

Ndume and a woman who fled Gwoza, said the insurgents had also murdered several male residents.

Survivors stated that the gunmen stormed Njaba and fired into the houses before setting the village on fire.

The raid happened early on Tuesday but was not reported until a day later because of the remoteness of the area.
