Two tablets of chill pill for Rotimi Amaechi… and all the APC saints

Perhaps one of the biggest heroes of 2013 was former Governor of Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), now Emir of Kano, Sanusi Muhammad II, when he revealed the day-light robbery that was happening in the Petroleum industry under the eagle-eye watch of former Minister of Petroleum Resources, Diezani Alison-Madueke.

Somehow, the ‘secret letter’ Sanusi had written to the then President Goodluck Jonathan (who was described by Financial times as an ‘ineffectual buffoon’) made its way into the public domain through the hands of Rotimi Amaechi.

Amaechi, for the better part of his second tenure as governor of Rivers state, was locked in a battle of heaven knows what with the Jonathan family and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) establishment.

Following the disclosure by Sanusi that the letter was leaked by Amaechi, the former governor, now Minister of Transport, quickly released a statement claiming that he leaked the letter for the good of Nigerians.

In his usual fit of self pleasuring, Amaechi had described himself as a “concerned and patriotic Nigerian”.

However, the true question remains: did Amaechi leak the letter to humiliate his political adversary, Jonathan, the PDP and anoint himself, and his adopted party, the APC, as saints?

Or did he do it for the betterment of Nigeria?

Your guess is as good as mine.

Nigerian politicians, regardless of political affiliation, wear the morality gown when it suits them and crown their opponents with the devil’s horn just to make their own halo whiter.

While it is common knowledge that immense corruption took place under Jonathan’s watch, Amaechi should also take a chill pill and spare Nigerians the self-centered orgasmic rhetoric that adds no value to the public.

Lets move on, please.
