US government has ‘no information to provide’ on Aisha Buhari’s fraud case

The acting Public Affairs Officer, US Consulate General, Lagos, Frank Sellin, has declined to provide information on whether the wife of the President, Aisha Buhari has a fraud case to answer in the United States of America.

According to Punch Newspaper, Sellin replied an email of inquiry about the president’s wife and an alleged fraud case in the US with “Thank you for the inquiry.  We have no information to provide on this matter.”

The email was sent on Tuesday.

Governor Ayodele Fayose had insisted that Aisha Buhari could not travel to the US because of the said fraud case as she would be immediately apprehended.

He accused her of an alleged involvement in the $185 million Halliburton scandal that saw Congressman William Jefferson convicted in the US.

He had said, “Even the President cannot claim to be an angel. The estate he built in Abuja is known to us. His wife was indicted in the Halliburton scandal. When that American, Jefferson, was being sentenced, the President’s wife was mentioned as having wired $170,000 to Jefferson. Her name was on page 25 of the sentencing of Jefferson. We can serialise the judgment for people to see and read.”

He further said Aisha refused to travel with the President to the US because of her involvement in the scandal.
