Wike borrowed N45bn for his purse – Amaechi

Former governor of Rivers state, Rotimi Amaechi, has accused Governor Nyesom Wike of borrowing N45bn for phantom projects.

Amaechi insinuated on Sunday, that his predecessor borrowed the huge sum for the purpose of embezzlement.

The ministerial nominee stated this at a Thanksgiving service/reception, organised to celebrate the tribunal’s nullification of Wike’s election.

Amaechi said: “I borrowed N300bn and I paid N245bn back and I left about N15bn. But now, they are not borrowing to pay contractors. Rather they are borrowing for themselves.

“Borrow to pay contractors not for your purse. They have borrowed N45bn and nobody is seeing it. If you put N45bn in the state economy, the state will be bouncing. They will employ more workers, pay them and you will see things working.”

Furthermore, he stated that money cannot always buy victory, except it is sanctioned by God.

“Even if we win at the Supreme Court it is still not yet time for celebration. You can pay all the money you want to pay but if God says it is not your turn it is not your turn. It is God that gave the victory at the tribunal.”

“This is not a new path for those of you who know me. We did not know they had fixed Saturday for judgement, here we are to thank God.”
