#100DaysOfBuhari: A breakdown of President Buhari’s activities

President Muhammadu Buhari has been in power for 100 days and it’s only apt to review and relive, what he’s done so far.

While many opinion pieces and articles have been written to assess how good or bad President Buhari’s performance has been, no one has reviewed his day-to-day activities since May 29.

While roving around the internet, we stumbled across an infographic breakdown of Buhari’s activities… and itinerary since he assumed the position.

May 29: President Muhammadu Buhari was sworn in.

May 31: Buhari made his first appointment, appointed special adviser on media and Senior special assistant on Media.

June 4: He travelled to Chad and Niger as part of efforts to build regional anti-insurgency coalition. Nigerian General appointed Commander of Multi-National Joint Task Force (MNJTF).

June 7-9: Buhari traveled to Germany for G7 summit. Military headquarters establishes Military command and control centre (MCCC) in Maiduguri.

June 11: He hosted head of state of Chad, Benin, Niger and Cameroun at Lake Chad Summit in Abuja; announces commitment to redeeming Nigeria’s $100 million pledge.

June 12: He met with Chibok Parents. Receives 800-page transition committee report.

June 13: Buhari chaired Peace and Defence and Security Council meeting at AU summit in South Africa; orders release of $21 million to MNJTF.

June 14-16: He delivered a speech at Opening session of AU summit; restates commitment to working within the framework of the Lake Chad Basin Commission (LCBC) to mobilise collective support to fight against Boko Haram.

June 26: President Buhari dissolved the board of NNPC.

June 29: The President inaugurated the National Economic Council.

July 2: Buhari appoints Director-General for State Security Service (SSS).

July 6: He approved bailout funds for 27 states (including 338 billion naira fund, as well as debt restructuring deal).

July 7: CBN announced rise in External Reserves from $29.1 billion at the end of June to $31.89 billion.

July 10: Buhari and Osinbajo take 50% pay cut, Maiduguri Airport reopens after being closed for 18 months.

July 13: Buhari fired Military chiefs and National security adviser; appoints replacements.

July 15: President Buhari met with members of the diplomatic corps.

July 16: He dissolved boards of all federal parastatals, agencies and institutions; fires DG of NIMASA.

July 17: Buhari appointed a new Commandant-general for Nigerian Defence and Security and Civil Defence corps (NSCDC).

July 19-22: Buhari went Official visit to the United states at the invitation of President Obama.

July 22: He spoke at United States Institute for Peace (USIP) in Washington DC.

July 28: Buhari appointed a new coordinator for Niger Delta Amnesty Programme.

July 31: He released 5 billion naira government contribution to Boko Haram victims support fund; Appoints new commissioner for insurance.

August 1: The President went on an official visit to Benin Republic as part of efforts to build regional anti-insurgency coalition.

August 2: Buhari directed Auditor-General to resolve outstanding queries within 30 days.

August 4: Buhari appointed new Group Managing Director for NNPC and new Executive Vice Chairman for Nigerian Communications Commission.

August 5: The President approved the implementation of United Nations Environmental Programme (UNEP) report on the environmental restoration of Ogoniland.

August 6: Buhari met with Emmanual Ibe Kachikwu, the new NNPC GMD.

August 9: He ordered full implementation of Treasury Single Accounts (TSA) by ministries, departments and agencies.

August 11: Buhari set up committee on war against corruption; approved reorganisation of NNPC: Departments reduced from 8 to 4; new EDs and MDs appointed.

August 13: President Buhari met with service chiefs; gives 3 months deadline to defeat Boko Haram. Second meeting with new GMD NNPC; Fires Director-General of Nigerian Ports Authority and appoints replacement.

August 18: President Buhari appointed new CEO and executive directors for asset Management Corporation of Nigeria (AMCON).

August 19: Buhari met with independent petroleum producers association of Nigeria; assures of full support.

August 20: The President appointed new director-general for budget office and new executive chairman for Federal Inland Revenue service.

August 21: Buhari sent former President Obasanjo as special envoy to intervene in crisis in Guinea Bissau.

August 24: Buhari ordered probe of weapons procurement since 2007. Hosts visiting UN secretary general Ban Ki-Moon. CBN starts disbursement of states intervention funds this week.

August 25: He met with the Revenue Mobilisation Allocation and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC) to discuss downward review of remuneration for political office holders.

August 26: Buhari met with infrastructure concession regulatory commission (ICRC) to review second Niger bridge project; Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) announces peak power generation of 4, 800MW up from less than 2,000MW on May 29.

August 27: Buhari appointed chief of staff, secretary to the government of the federation and heads of customs and immigration.

September 3: NNPC GMD announces that Port Harcourt Refinery is now producing 5mlitres of petrol daily; Nigerian Army reinstates 3,032 unfairly dismissed soldiers.
