Cameroonian and Nigerian troops has captured a Boko Haram commander, Boukar Kaou, during a joint military operation that resulted in the death of 58 insurgents.
According to a radio statement by Cameroon’s government spokesperson, Issa Tchiroma Bakary, Kaous and his fighters were captured during a fight in Madawaya forest, near the Nigeria-Cameroon border, on May 10 and 11.
46 hostages, including 18 women and 28 children, were freed and the Boko Haram camp destroyed. Weapons were also recovered at the terrorist camp.
