6 injured after driver slams vehicle into French soldiers in Paris

Terror struck again in Paris this morning as a driver who is still at large intentionally veered a vehicle into a crowd of soldiers in Saint-Mande, a Paris suburb, Fox News reports.

Although not life-threatening, not less than three of the six French soldiers who were hit were seriously injured, the French Defense Ministry recorded. The concerned soldiers were part of the 35th infantry regiment in the suburb and were leaving their barracks just in the early hours when the tragic incident occurred.

According to a witness, Nadia LeProhon, she heard a loud crash outside her building and rushed outside to meet two soldiers on the ground, while the other soldiers ran after the speeding vehicle.

“I’ll never forget that scream of pain and distress,” she said.

No one was specifically named in the investigation and the motive of the attack is still unknown, though local mayor Patrick Balkany said the incident had “without any doubt” been deliberate.

“It’s an odious act of aggression,” he said.

While the investigation is still ongoing, there has been no suspect nor a disclosure of the motive of the driver as both the driver and the cars whereabouts is unknown. But, authorities belief the attack was terror related.

However, Defense Minister Florence Parly condemned the attack, and called it “a cowardly act with the utmost firmness.”.

Also, the Paris’ prosecutor’s office has said it aims at pursuing the perpetrators on charges of “attempted murder of security forces in connection with a terrorist enterprise”.
