Earlier today, The Nation newspapers published a report, insinuating that about N500 million earmarked for the inauguration ceremony of President Muhammadu Buhari, had developed wings.
The report set the grapevine on fire as series of stories emanated from the initial publication, which stated that the money meant for payment of ushers and other service providers were siphoned by a member of the presidential transition committee.
About 50 ushers were also alleged to have been left stranded in Abuja since the day of the presidential inauguration.
However, a member of the All Progressives Congress and seasoned lawmaker, Abike Dabiri-Erewa, has refuted the claims via her handle on micro-blogging platform, Twitter.
Abike Dabiri, who is the Chairperson House committee on Diaspora Affairs, revealed that all the ushers were each paid a sum of N21,000 each.
She also disclosed that a budget of N2million was set aside for the ushers, whom she says also got free clothing and accommodation.
Please note that all ushers who served at the inauguration have since been paid in full a sum of N21K each. -1/2
