Alex Badeh, a former Chief of Defence Staff has been sent to Kuje Maximum Prison, pending the determination of his bail application on March 10 by a Federal High Court in Abuja.

Justice Okon Abang gave the ruling on Monday, after Badeh was arraigned for alleged fraud and diversion of funds meant for the purchase of arms and ammunition for the armed forces.

Abang ruled out the bail application filed by Badeh’s counsel, Samuel Zibiri, on the grounds that it was filed ahead of his client’s arraignment.

He also ruled that the hearing for Badeh’s bail would commence on March 10 while stressing that it was important for the application to be determined before the commencement of trial.
