by Kolapo Olapoju

Media reports are saying that soldiers of the Nigerian Army are currently engaged in a fire fight with suspected Boko Haram members.

The fierce exchange is going on at Gamboru Ngala town in Borno state.

The reports state that the crossfire commenced in the wee hours of Monday, 25 August.

Just on Sunday, 24 August, Boko Haram’s leader, Ibrahim Shekau released a video where he declared the town of Gwoza, in Borno, as an Islamic caliphate.

Meanwhile, the defence spokesman, Chris Olukolade, had immediately responded to Boko Haram’s claim of Gwoza, calling it an ’empty deluded claim’.
