Nigerians on Twitter are unimpressed with President Muhammadu Buhari’s decision to cancel his attendance of the flag off ceremony of the Niger Delta Clean-up exercise in Ogoni land, Rivers state.
While no official reason was given for the President’s decision to skip the ceremony, widespread reports indicate that it’s as a result of militant group, Niger Delta Avengers’ threat to assassinate him.
Despite the fact that he is being represented by the Vice President, Professor Yemi Osinbajo, many Nigerians still found the President worthy of criticism.
Hell, some even called him a scared chicken.
Buhari cancelled his trip to Lagos, Calabar and now #Ogoni #NDCleanUp in the spate of 2 weeks. He should add his name to the Ghost workers

Instead of Nigerians to praise the @APCNigeria led govt 4 #NDCleanUp, we complain why the VP should represent d CnC https://t.co/ZptOqwSE00

1)Dear President Buhari @NGRPresident
Why do you always want to burst my bubble? I was so looking forward to seeing you at #NDCleanUp— Aisha Yesufu (@AishaYesufu) June 2, 2016
And Mr. President’s absence will now overshadow a historic moment in the Niger Delta. A cleanup that matters to its future #NDCleanUp

The president’s absence in Ogoniland today is another major victory for the “Avengers,” their sponsors and social media fanatics.

2 June 2016: Commander in Chief of the ARMED FORCES declines to visit his own territory for security reasons. Inauspicious #NDCleanUp

I recall that GEJ refused in the aftermath of some Abuja bomb blasts to cancel the centenary celebrations in Abuja to defy terrorism.
