A late strike by Spanish full back Dani Carvajal was all Real Madrid needed to lift the UEFA Super Cup.
The full back slotted home in the 119th after making a solo run to secure victory for Zinedine Zidane’s side.
Sevilla started the game the better side as Jorge Sampioli’s side capitalised on the absence of Cristiano Ronaldo, Gareth Bale, Toni Kroos and Pepe from the Madrid lineup.
However it was Madrid who drew first blood when 20-year-old midfielder Marco Asensio scored a stunner in the 20th minute. Sevilla pulled one back four minutes before after through Franco Vasquez.
Sevilla took the lead in the second half when Konoplyanka scored from the spot.
With seconds left to play and Sevilla waiting to be crowned champions, Ramos stepped up to nod in a stoppage time equaliser for Los Merengues
The game went into extra time, and was gradually getting set to go into penalties before Carvajal produced a magical goal.
This loss is Sevilla’s third consecutive loss in the UEFA Super Cup having lost to Real Madrid and Barcelona in 2014 and 2015 respectively.
