As far as mainstreamed youth churches go, you are hard pressed to find many outside of the Lagos metropolis (if you go to House of the Rock like one of us does, it can’t just be Lagos, it must be metropolis, and it can’t just be Lekki, it must be peninsula!).
Or at least that take the form, function and gloss of the Lagos church.
Cue in Laurie Idahosa, the non-Nigerian wife of the (late) Archbishop Benson Idahosa’s first son, Feb who has seized upon that mandate with a vengeance.
The Church of God Mission’s youth church, Church Unusual, located in Benin has become one of the leading lights of a new movement of church that is honest, that is personal and where you can approach the bench without any pretensions.
We like the photos we see, we love the messages we hear, and there is something altogether deeply ‘real’ about the persona and language – and ministry – of the bubbly Laurie.
And we’re here for all of that.
