A few hours after ratifying the appointment of Rotimi Amaechi as a minister, it was learnt that the Court of Appeal will on Friday, rule on Bukola Saraki’s case at the Code of Conduct Tribunal.
The Appeal Court, in Abuja is expected to decide if the Senate President’s case at the CCT, should proceed or stop.
Saraki is on trial over alleged past sins, of false declaration of assets while serving as Kwara state governor.
The Court of Appeal was scheduled to rule on it two weeks ago but postponed judgment indefinitely, which forced the case at the tribunal to a standstill.
Saraki’s lawyers are basing his appeal on the fact that the tribunal was not properly constituted, as it was made up of two members, when it should have three, and also that the tribunal was not recognised by the constitution, and as such, could not exercise criminal jurisdiction.
