The Council of State which met on Wednesday at the Presidential Villa Abuja has approved the appointment of the Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Idris.

The meeting was attended by former President Goodluck Jonathan, as well as former heads of state, Abdusalami Abubakar, and Ernest Shonekan.

Ibrahim Idris was appointed as the acting Inspector General of Police, following the retirement of former IG, Solomon Arase.

The council also approved the appointment of six Resident Electoral Commissioners (RECs) for the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and five commissioners for the National Population Commission (NPC).
