Davido accused of murder, Kachikwu’s letter to Buhari and other stories that got people talking this week

These are the top ten stories that drove conversation this week.

Responding to the question, “Where is Nnamdi Kanu?” Orji Uzor Kalu said the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) is not in the hands of the Nigerian Army but has fled to London, passing through Malaysia.

As expected, Mr Kanu’s lawyer and IPOB attacked Mr Kalu.

Dbanj reacted to Eedris Abdulkareem’s outbursts but, refused to throw tantrums.

Eedris tongue-lashed him and several others in a video – calling him stupid for leaving Don Jazzy.

D’banj simply said Eedris insulted people who are young enough to be his children.

Let’s not forget President Muhammadu Buhari’s Independence Day speech where he said things like:

I will not allow Nigeria to break up during my administration.

He reiterated the failure of the previous Goodluck Jonathan administration to leave Nigeria without savings, despite oil prices.

Afenifere and Arewa deferred on some of the statements in the speech. The former stated that President should distinguish between restructuring and secession.

Buhari also said power in Nigeria remains a huge problem.

Still on Independence, recall Buhari visited troops in Borno, where he told them that their loyalty should remain with the government.

The wife of the former President, Patience Jonathan said President Muhammadu Buhari should stop persecuting her, just like U.S. President Donald Trump did not persecute Barrack Obama’s wife.

Interesting, isn’t it?

Maybe we can heave a sigh of relief that some politicians now accept incumbent governments actually pay critics to “keep quiet”.

Maybe though.

Garba Shehu said the Buhari-led administration has ended the era of “settling” critics, so they look away from the problems inherent in the country.

He said criticisms really help the government to be better in its dealings.

Describe this as really “appalling”.

One of the suspects in the killing of a winner in the Gulder Ultimate Search, Hector Jobateh, said he was paid N7,000 to play a part in the killing.

We should be asking… “is poverty really an excuse for anti-social activities?”

Still on course, The Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Ibe Kachikwu, wrote a letter to President Buhari; a personal letter that was eventually leaked to the public.

The Senate waded in, as they started probing the allegations levelled against the NNPC GMD, Maikanti.

One of the claims in the letter is that he has not had a proper meeting with the President. In a swift reaction, President Buhari met with him. Where everyone expected some great news, you should read what Kachikwu did.

The NNPC boss also visited Aso Rock, but he met with Vice President Yemi Osinbajo this time.

Senator Shehu Sani (Kaduna Central) asked the Minister to remove himself.

Estranged former Minister of Petroleum, Mrs Diezani Allison Madueke said she would like to come back home to say her own part in the several allegations levelled against her.

The Attorney-General, however, said the former Minister will not be on her way soon.

We are still confused about the death of Tagbo Umeike.

But, before we even knew of his death, actress, Caroline Danjuma accused singer, Davido and his friends of dumping Tagbo’s body at a hospital after he died.

In reaction, Davido refused to speak clearly. Only said he wants to respect the deceased and his family.

Finally driving out of the accusations and speaking more elaborately, Danjuma said Tagbo was her lover; where everyone called him her brother.

In Bayelsa, there was a report of the outbreak of the Monkeypox disease.

The Bayelsa government, however, asked citizens not to panic.

You might want to know about the disease though.

Also in reaction, the Federal Government asked Nigerians to stop eating bush meat and dead animals.
