Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers has announced a reward of 100,000 naira for any whistleblower that gives information on any person that violates these directives in the state. This includes those who don’t wear face mask in public gatherings of more than 2 people, and hotels and beer parlor still in operation and also overloaded cars. 

On social media, the governor’s order has become comic relief. Wike had initially made claims that the coronavirus outbreak in Nigeria is politicised. Currently, the state has recorded 14 cases of the contagion.
